What Lies Hidden Was Found [Jun. 30th, 2009|01:05 pm]
Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry

Well, the news is out (sorry, Dutch only).

In short, my honorable employer, Spellborn Works B.V. has filed for bankruptcy and as of yesterday I am officially looking for a job.

Personally, I loved the Spellborn project and my coworkers, and despite it being very hard work and long hours, I enjoyed every moment of it. If I could do it over, I'd do it all again.

The game will continue to run, with EU operations taken over by Acclaim, and development will continue on a Far East and perhaps even a re-visioned EU version.

I'd love to continue working in the computer games industry and I've got a few leads for a new job already lined up. And I've got enough savings to take a few weeks off to recover before starting something new, even.

Sorry to hear about this, too bad as it was a very promising game.

I second it though, do take a break, recover and kick ass at the new job :)

That being said...has Khaeon ever made a game that sold well?
Mind you, all I really know is what I hear about, and I heard little, and I do keep track of the dutch games industry.

Well, Star Defense for the iPhone, published under their Rough Cookie imprint isn't doing badly at all..

Yeah, the fact that they were in the Apple keynote helped them a lot :)

Awww, man. This is just all wrong. Just when everything seemed to go so well. All I can say is: clear your head, take the time off, enjoy the weather and when you're ready, find that new job.

I concur. Get a little time for yourself, work out what you want to do and go at it then.

All the best of luck.

Ahhhhhh, that's a pain in the butt. I'm so sorry to hear that, my good friend. It sounded like such a wonderful job for you, despite the hard hours.

Good fortune, I'm sure you'll find someplace else to take up soon enough!

Damn, sorry to hear that!

You are one of the most devoted people I know, you deserve those few weeks of, and I hope one of those leads will end up in an even better job.

Good luck, and best wishes!

That sucks dude, but hopefully you'll find something quickly, and if you can't find work there, you are always welcome to come here. ;)

Sorry, sweetheart, I know that was your ideal job. I've got my fingers crossed that something even better will come along shortly.

In the meantime, I second everyone else here in saying that you should enjoy some downtime and giving your lovely brain a break for awhile. :)

Hey, sorry to hear about the company's demise, but I'm really happy it was such a big positive experience for you.

How does the job market look in Europe? It's fairly bad over here, but I think that you guys have better social and unemployment services.

But overall, I think the world economy is on an upswing though the job market is a laggard of the market. Things may look better in the next 6 months.
